Way back in 2003, DFM Data Corp’s founder, Michael Darden, literally invented the concept of Digital Freight Matching and launched the industry’s first DFM company, Power2Ship, and was awarded the patent that defines and details digital freight matching: US7755518B2: “Dynamic and predictive information system and method for shipping assets and transport”. Today, Michael is not utilizing his patent to burden DFM providers, instead, through DFM Data Corp., he partners with digital freight matching providers of every stripe to enable a central DFM data clearinghouse designed to benefit all DFM providers. DFM’s feed their data to us, we anonymize it, we purge it of phantom loads and capacity data, in real time, and feed it back. As a result, DFM’s can perform frictionless matches 100% of the time, saving countless man hours, eliminating booking confirmation delays, and creating happier customers.
Soon, because our DFM data lake is built upon a blockchain infrastructure, DFM’s will be able to choose to partner with other DFM providers to make their load and capacity listings visible to each other. This opens up the ability to safely do business with each other – blockchain “smart contracts” will facilitate safe, co-brokered loads.
Additionally, DFM Data Corp’s dataset of DFM transactional data creates an unprecedented opportunity that will further enhance DFM industry innovation and growth. A central repository of DFM industry data is a dataset completely new to the world. We provide DFMs access to up-to-the-minute industry performance metrics and insights they can use to chart their company’s progress, plan for growth, and to innovate their future.
DFM Data Corp is also committed to driving new customers to DFM’s. We will be funding a national marketing campaign to raise awareness about the benefits of digital freight matching and to direct new customers to DFM service providers. Our vision for a united DFM provider community, where all DFM providers feed and have access to the master data lake, is going to change the game for DFM’s and their customers. DFM service providers will be able to eliminate phantom data in their platforms, they’ll begin to leverage industry insights and performance analytics, and they’ll be harvesting more qualified leads from a wave of customers newly introduced to the idea of digital freight matching, driven to them by a national marketing campaign designed to create a growing pool of shippers and carriers actively seeking DFM services.
