Drivewyze announced late last year that its weigh station bypass services would be available on the Omnitracs fleet management platform, and users of the platform can now track if the Drivewyze product will benefit their bottom line.
The companies highlighted the partnership at Omnitracs’ annual user conference earlier this month. Doug Johnson, director of marketing at Drivewyze, explained that the company’s PreClear weigh station bypass product was launched with Omnitracs MCP 200 and 110 hardware in February, will be added to the MCP 50 in March and will be available with Omnitracs’ latest telematics hardware, the Intelligent Vehicle Gateway, around May-June.
Omnitracs customers “now have a choice in weigh station bypass services providers,” Johnson told Fleet Owner. “If you’re not using a bypass program, now is the time to get Drivewyze; if you are using a transponder-based bypass program, now’s the time to think about switching.”
Further, Johnson contended, Drivewyze “has more states covered, we’ve got more sites — we can give you more bypasses.”

Depending on operators’ safety scores, Drivewyze says its PreClear product can bypass up to 98% of weigh stations.

According to the company, the way the PreClear product works is it provides truck drivers an audio and visual alert on their in-cab device two miles from an inspection site. At one mile from the site, the software already has communicated info to the weigh station and then tells drivers if they can drive on past it or must follow signs in.
Depending on operators’ safety scores, Drivewyze claims PreClear can allow up to 98% of weigh stations to be bypassed.
Omnitracs users can find out if PreClear will benefit their bottom lines, Johnson said, by requesting an analysis through the Drivewyze Analytics Weigh Station Loss Reporting Tool, which is available at no charge. “If you’re an Omnitracs customer and you’ve got a compatible device, we just activate the analytics on your truck in the background,” Johnson said. “The drivers never see it.
“You run your normal routes for 30 days, and then at the end we’ll show you a report that shows you exactly where your trucks were and where they pulled in [to a weigh station], down to the second,” he continued. “You can take a look at that data and see how much you would have saved if you’d been using Drivewyze.”
