Freelancer, a jobs and crowdsourcing marketplace, has acquired Channel 40, an enterprise marketplace that connects freight owners with transport operators. Coincident with the acquisition, Freelancer has launched Freightlancer.com, a global marketplace for freight, shipping and transportation, according to a Nov. 19 press release.
Channel 40 primarily services the construction, mining, tunneling, rail and oil, and gas industries, with more than 6,000 freight operators in its marketplace. Over the past 12 months, it has shipped more than $4.5 million of freight within the Asia Pacific region, as well as to the United States and Europe.
Freightlancer is powered by a human labor cloud of more than 30 million freelancers in 247 countries, regions and territories. Uses of the new marketplace span from complex enterprise haulage to consumer metro deliveries.
Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
